SkinnyDipDay.org was started by Thomas Francine of New Jersey.
Thomas is a big fan of:
- body positivity (skinny dipping was one difficult, but powerful step that painfully shy Thomas took… to break out of his own body shame and general self-consciousness).
- effective giving (Thomas reads books like Doing Good Better and The Life You Can Save; teaches volunteers; and volunteers himself – most recently with hospice patients).
Thomas states that Fistula Foundation is one of the best charities in the world because…
all charity raters give it their highest marks;
it does so much with so little money;
it empowers local individuals and infrastructure.
But… SkinnyDipDay.org is a decentralized project… with a LOT of people involved!
